Introduction
Whether you need to renew your passport or a new one, this
blog will guide you through the process step by step.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a passport renewal, you must:
● Be
both a resident of India and an Indian citizen.
● Be
at least 14 years old, but no older than 64 years (if you are under 18, your
parent or guardian must sign the application).
● Have
a valid passport that is in your possession (ie., it is not lost or stolen) and
has been issued to you within the last 15 years. If you do not have this document,
then another form of identification will suffice such as an Aadhaar Number
Card; however, if this number does not match with what is found on your
original passport copy then we cannot issue the new one until we receive
confirmation from UIDAI that all details are confirmed with their database.
Application Process
● Fill
the application form.
● Submit
the form to the passport office.
● Get
the form attested by a Gazetted Officer/Member of Parliament/MLA or equivalent
rank as per your residence in India, and submit it along with required
documents and fee at Passport Office. You can pay your fee through net banking
or debit card (MasterCard, Visa Card) at any branch of Bank of Baroda / Punjab
National Bank / State Bank Of India / Federal Bank / HDFC bank branches only.
Note that these banks may charge you an additional service charge for using
their ATM for paying passport fees online, so make sure you plan accordingly
before applying for a new passport online in India!
● Get
a passport photograph taken by a photographer authorized by the Department of
Posts[1] on plain white background with dimensions 35mm X 45mm inclusive (width
X height). The photograph should be taken according to specifications given
below:
Documents Required
● Passport
size photograph
● Photo
affixed on the application form.
Renewal of Passport(After 10 Years)
If you are applying for a new passport after 10 years, you
will have to fill in Form No. 26 and submit it at the nearest passport office.
You must also submit your previous passport along with other required documents
(see below).
In addition to these documents, you must also submit:
A photocopy of the last page of your previous valid passport
(if available) or a travel document issued by an embassy or consulate in India
that shows that you were present in India on this date (if not available) Proof
of age Proof of identity Proof of residence Passport application fee Proof that
you have received full service from earlier passports (e.g., renewal
stickers—if applicable)

● If
you want to renew your passport, you can do it online.
● You
can also go to the nearest passport office and apply for a new one.
● The
process of applying at a passport office is somewhat more cumbersome than
online renewal, though it is still much simpler than applying for the first
time.
● Another
option is to visit a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) near you and request that they
accept your application on your behalf. PSKs are public centers set up by the
government that offer various services including passport renewal. These
locations have limited opening hours though since they're only open when their
respective cities' offices are closed; so be sure not to miss out!
You may also choose to visit a nearby police station or post office if none of those options work for you; however, neither one seems like an ideal solution because doing so will require standing in line for hours (if not days), which could lead towards frustration and make matters worse than before."
